The Author
Brian Hydesmith (Smith) moved from Manitoba to Whistler for therapeutic reasons, treating an addiction to skiing. While enduring the usual local trials of terrible housing, multiple jobs and more skiing, Brian resumed freelance photography. He eventually joined the small staff at The Whistler Question weekly newspaper where he worked for several years shooting pictures and as part of the team creating a weekly newspaper and annual magazine. His weekly Questionable cartoons reflect a sense of humour as well as a background in political science. Before Whistler, Brian studied and worked in Germany and travelled. He has photographed in Canada, Europe, South America and Australia. He moved to Australia after Whistler where he worked in publication design. He currently works as a freelance designer and photographer back in his home province of Manitoba and visits Whistler when he can. His stock photography is handled by Photo Collective Inc. which is distributed worldwide by CentralStock. If you are wondering about the name on the book, Brian changed his name from Smith to Hydesmith when he married in Australia. |
